The sella is grossly disfigured and ballooned, indirectly revealing the presence of an advanced soft tissue tumor (pituitary macroadenoma).
Case Discussion
Before the advent of cross-sectional imaging sellar pathology could only be evaulated indirectly by observing the size and shape of its bony contours on focused x-rays.
