Porcelain gallbladder

Presentation

Work up for abdominal pain.

Patient Data

Age: 60 years
Gender: Female
CT

An 18 mm hypoattenuating lesion is present at segment III of the liver which shows no obvious enhancement on post contrast images most consistent with cyst
Punctate calcification is present at gallbladder wall. A few small gallstones are also observed. 
Degenerative changes as osteophytosis are seen at the lumbar spine.

Case Discussion

The finding consistent with porcelain gallbladder which refers to calcium encrustation of the gallbladder wall. Patients are usually asymptomatic, and porcelain gallbladder is usually found incidentally on plain abdominal radiographs, ultrasound, or CT images.
