There is a comminuted intra-articular fracture of the base of the metatarsal of the left fifth toe.
The appearances are that of an avulsion fracture ( pseudo-Jones fracture ).
The mid-foot alignment is normal.
Case Discussion
The fracture is located less than 1 cm distal to the joint, whereas a Jones fracture is typically located at least 2 cm distal to the joint.
A Jones fracture does not involve the joint.
