Foot pain over 1st metatarsal head

Patient Data

Age: 12
Gender: Male

Medial sesamoid is slightly sclerotic (arrow) and irregular in shape. 

Medial great sesamoid is also bipartite (arrow) as is the lateral.


Bone marrow oedema in the medial sesamoid (arrow in axial). Bipartite medial great sesamoid with bone marrow oedema on either side of the syndesmosis.

Minor soft tissue oedema overlying the sesmoid (arrow in sagittal).
