Two examples of small bowel point of care ultrasound. Both patients have free intraperitoneal fluid which assists in making the bowel more conspicuous. In example one normal bowel wall thickness and peristalsis is seen. In example two there is bowel wall thickening without any peristalsis observed.

An example of normal small bowel peristalsis and of abnormal small bowel wall thickening on ultrasound in two patients with free intraperitoneal fluid.
