Tracheal stenosis with subsequent stenting

Presentation

25 year old who had history of tracheal stenosis from prior intubation. Failed tracheoplasty. Has a tracheal stent.

Patient Data

Age: 25 years old
Gender: Female
Modality: X-ray

There is tracheal narrowing in the mid trachea on the sagittal reconstructed image of the CT scan.

 

The chest X ray show tracheal stent with 2 opaque ring markers superiorly and inferiorly. Patient failed tracheoplasty from the costal cartilage.

Modality: CT

Case Discussion

Tracheal stenosis is a known complication of tracheal intubation with an endotracheal tube. It is usually seen when there has been prolonged intubation with a cuffed ET tube.
