Presentation

The patient presented with swelling in the scalp for 5 years, it has been gradually increasing in size for 5 months No history of trauma

Patient Data

Age: 35 years
Gender: Male

Zoomed view

x-ray

A soft tissue lump is noted showing internal calcified shadows (zoomed view) compatible with a trichilemmal cyst which is noted in the USG study.

No clear underlying bone abnormality is noted.

ultrasound

A well-defined heterogenous echogenicity structure measuring 24 x 23 x 12 mm is seen in the subcutaneous tissues of the scalp (at the site of complaint). No significant vascularity is seen in it on color Doppler ultrasound examination. The underlying bone is grossly intact.

Case Discussion

Well-defined heterogenous echogenicity lesion in the subcutaneous tissues of the scalp; possible differentials include sebaceous cyst/epidermal inclusion cyst.
