Presentation
Pulsatile tinnitus and hearing loss in the right ear.
Patient Data
There is a well-defined soft tissue mass within the right tympanic cavity of the middle ear, lateral to the cochlear promontory, abutting the tympanic membrane. It shows homogeneous enhancement post intravenous contrast.
No bone destruction or erosion.
The left ear appears normal.
Case Discussion
Typical appearances of tympanic paraganglioma, the most common benign primary tumors of the middle ear. On a CT scan, the tumor may be visualized as a soft tissue mass within the middle ear cavity.
It was a preoperative CT scan for middle ear tumor. Unfortunately further clinical or imaging follow-up is not available for this case at this time.
