Patient Data

Age: 2 months
Gender: Male
ultrasound

Thin-walled cystic structure (ureterocele) is seen at the expected location of the right vesicoureteric junction (VUJ) projecting into the bladder lumen. 

Right side proximal moderate hydroureteronephrosis is seen. 

Right side single collecting system is noted. 

During the real-time scan, partial emptying of the urinary bladder and change in the size of the ureterocele was observed. (all the images are from a single exam at the same time)

The left kidney is normal.

Case Discussion

Ureterocele is often associated with duplicated collecting system, however, this case shows a single collecting system
