Presentation
Right index finger injury 2 months prior to the ultrasound. Immobilization was done followed by physiotherapy. Complaining of flexion deformity of the finger.
Patient Data
There is an avulsion fracture at the middle phalanx base on the palmar side. Bone flake is less than 2 mm in size. It shows about 1 mm elevation / the proximal retraction from its donor site. There is mild effusion in the proximal interphalangeal joint. Flexure and extensor tendons are normal.
The asymptomatic finger shows a normal volar plate at the proximal interphalangeal joint.
Case Discussion
The case shows ultrasound findings in case of volar plate avulsion injury.
