Last revised by Taha Lodhi on 23 Jul 2023

The fasciola cinerea is located in the mesial temporal lobe 1,2. The fasciola cinerea is a posterior grey matter continuation of the margo denticularis and forms part of the hippocampal formation 3–5.

The fasciolar cinerea demonstrates robust interconnection and receives input from the lateral entorhinal cortex and peri-rhinal cortex and projects to the dentate gyrus. It may play a role in acquisition of visual contextual memory 6.
