Precise numbers vary but generally, male factor is estimated to play a role in up to half of infertility cases 3.
Pathology
Causes of male infertility can be considered as:
- pre-testicular, e.g. hormonal, genetic
- testicular
- post-testicular, e.g. obstruction
Radiographic features
Although sperm analysis is the primary investigation for this problem, radiological examinations can in some cases reveal the aetiology. Ultrasound is the most commonly performed radiological exam for male infertility, but MRI may be used in some cases.
