The pars opercularis refers to the opercular part of the inferior frontal gyrus on the inferolateral surface of the frontal lobe. It is the most posterior of the three parts of the inferior frontal gyrus along with the pars triangularis and pars orbitalisand corresponds to Brodmann area 44. Rostrally it is separated from the pars triangularis by the anterior ascending ramus and caudally it is bound by the the anterior subcentral gyrus. The pars opercularis forms part of Broca's area along with the pars triangularis 1-3.
