Since the part 1 examinationCOVID-19 pandemic in 2020, the written components are only held in Sydney, Australiaexaminations have been delivered via online proctoring. The viva The OSCER examinations are currently held inat the AMC National Testing Centre in Melbourne, Australia.

ExaminationsWritten examinations

There are 3 written examinations which are held over a period of two consecutive days, and are all delivered electronically. Trainees must pass the written examinations before they are eligible to sit the OSCER examinations.

The pathology examination is a 3 hour examination consisting of:

  • radiodiagnosis written exam (e-Film reading)
    • 8 cases consisting of a variety of imaging modalities to be completed in 120 minutes
    • written answers for imaging findings, diagnosis, differential diagnosis10 short answer questions (two general questions and managementone question per topic area, worth 6 marks per question)
  • radiodiagnosis MCQs
    • 100 multiple choice questions (best answer of five stems), worth 1 mark per question)

    The clinical radiology examinations consist of two components:

    • multiple choice examination
      • one 2 hour examination consisting of 100 multiple choice questions (best answer of five stems), to be completed in 120 minutesworth 1 mark per question)
    • case reporting examination
      • one 3 hour examination consisting of:
        • short cases (20 questions, worth 3 marks per question)
        • medium cases (10 questions, worth 3 marks per question)
        • long cases (5 questions, worth 12 marks per question)
    Objective Structured Clinical Examination in Radiology (OSCER) examinations

    The vivaOSCER examinations are typically held around two months after the written examinations. Candidates are not aware consist of their marks in the written examinations prior to sitting the vivas. These consist of 7 examinations each 25 minutes long, held over 2 daysseven viva stations:

    • abdominal
    • neuroradiology / head and neck
    • thoracic and cardiovascular
    • neuroradiology; head and neckbreast
    • women's imaging: breast; obstetricsobstetrics and gynaecology
    • paediatrics
    • musculoskeletal

    Each station is 25 minutes long, with typically 8-10 digital cases per station. The OSCER examinations are held over four consecutive days, however each candidate completes all seven stations within a single 4 hour block.
