Vitamin B5 (pantothenic acid) is a water-soluble vitamin, part of the vitamin B complex, that is required to synthesise coenzyme A, a very important coenzyme in many cellular metabolic reactions.
Vitamin B5 deficiency (hypovitaminosis B5) is extremely rare.
There is no evidence of any deleterious effects from megadoses of pantothenic acid.
