Presentation
Painless right neck swelling for 1 year. Stable in size. No pressure symptoms.
Patient Data
A well-circumscribed isoechoic solid nodule measuring 10 x 18 mm, is noted in the right thyroid lobe. It has a thin peripheral halo. No calcifications or cystic components are seen in it. Mild internal vascularity is seen in it on color Doppler ultrasound examination.
Histopathology reports of the FNAC (fine needle aspiration cytology) and total thyroidectomy specimen.
Case Discussion
Laboratory investigations showed normal thyroid profile. The patient underwent FNAC of the right thyroid lobe which was suspicious for a follicular neoplasm (category IV by the Bethesda system). Later on, the patient underwent total thyroidectomy and the histopathology showed follicular thyroid adenoma of the right lobe.
