Acute onset of right leg weakness

Heterogeneously enhancing altered signal intensities are noted involving the right half of the thoracic cord at T1 and T2 vertebral levels with cord expansion. T2 hyperintensity is seen in the thoracic cord opposite T2 and T3 vertebral levels involving the right half of the cord causing slight cord expansion showing heterogenous, peripheral postcontrast enhancement.
Human herpes virus 6 DNA was detected in this patient's CSF analysis.
Case Discussion
Transverse myelitis is an inflammatory pathology of the spine presenting with progressive abnormalities of motor, sensory and autonomic functions.
Human herpes virus 6 DNA was detected in this patient's CSF analysis.
The patient was treated with antivirals to complete recovery.
