Age: 45 years
Gender: Male
x-ray
  • teardrop fracture of C2 involving the anterior inferior body

  • no anterior displacement of C2 on C3

  • minimally displaced fracture of the posterior arch of C1

  • fracture line through C6 vertebrae spinous process

Case Discussion

Cervical spine fractures can occur secondary to exaggerated flexion or extension, or because of direct trauma or axial loading. C2 (~30%) and C7 (~20%) are the most commonly fractured levels 1.
