Multiple cerebral cavernous malformations

Diagnosis almost certain

Presentation

Seizures.

Patient Data

Age: 25 years
Gender: Male

Multiple small intra-axial lesions seen in both cerebral hemispheres of a low signal on T1, T2 and FLAIR with a peripheral rim of high signal and blooming artifact on the GE sequence. No enhancement seen on postcontrast sequence. The largest lesions are located in the left corona radiata (10 mm), right frontal lobe (7 mm) and left temporoparietal region (8 mm).

In multiple cerebral cavernous malformationsfamilial multiple cavernous malformation syndrome should be considered. When familial the number of cavernomas is higher, typically five or more lesions. Typically patients present with seizures.
