CT images show a bilateral tonsillar enlargement that is bigger on the left side, where it is possible to identify a hypoattenuating fluid collection.

Peritonsillar abscess is a collection of pus generally thought to result as a complication of tonsillitis and thus has a similar clinical presentation and infective etiology.
