Extensive signal loss, best seen on gradient echo sequence, is noted which is most marked in the over the surface of the posterior fossa structures. It is accompanied by moderate cerebellar and brainstem atrophy.
Case Discussion
This case demonstrates typical and pronounced features on superficial siderosis. The cause is unclear, but probably relates to a pseudomeningocoele resulting from cervical spine trauma and surgery (images not included in this case).
Deafness and other cranial nerve dysfunction is typical also.
