Presentation
Fever, cough, dyspnea and mild abdominal pain (COVID-19 PCR positive).
Patient Data
Multifocal regions of ground glass opacities with areas of consolidation at places seen in both the lungs with peripheral predominance
Multiple nearly rounded target like lesions seen in right upper lobe and both the lower lobes
No pleural and pericardial effusion .
Case Discussion
Target sign is defined as a nodular opacity in the center with peripheral ring-like area of ground glass opacity and consolidation.
The central nodular opacity is thought to reflect the perivascular inflammation or focal enlargement of the pulmonary artery. The ring-like opacities represent the underlying pathophysiological mechanism of the disease of the lung injury.
Result of perivascular inflammation and organizing pneumonia.
