Hypertrophy of the anterior suprapatellar fat pad with edematous infiltration and convex posterior margin. A mass effect is noted on the adjacent suprapatellar recess. No significant joint effusion is seen.
Both menisci, collateral and cruciate ligaments are intact.
Case Discussion
Hypertrophy with edema and convex posterior margin of the anterior suprapatellar fat pad are considered the main MRI findings of the suprapatellar fat pad impingement syndrome, which is generally considered a diagnosis of exclusion.
