There is a distended appendix with enhancing walls and surrounding inflammatory changes associated with a 25 x 30 mm small fluid collection at its tip.
Remainder of the bowel is unremarkable.
No free fluid or free gas.
Case Discussion
The findings are consistent with acute appendicitis.
The patient proceeded to laparoscopic appendicectomy and the diagnosis of acute appendicitis was confirmed on subsequent histopathology.
