Presentation

Abdominal pain. History of breast cancer.

Patient Data

Age: 50 years
Gender: Female

At time of presentation

Background of distal colonic diverticulosis. There is a segmental wall thickening at the junction between the descending colon and the sigmoid colon associated with diffuse pericolic fat stranding. No extraluminal gas or localized collections.

3-month after presentation

A follow-up scan revealed a complete resolution of the inflammatory changes.

Case Discussion

The patient presented with acute abdominal pain and was diagnosed with acute uncomplicated diverticulitis and managed conservatively.

The follow-up scan (for a different indication related to the patient's history) showed complete resolution of the inflammatory changes.
