Patient Data

Age: 50 years
Gender: Male
ct

Moderate diffuse duodenum wall edema at the first portion of the duodenum (D1) region with no luminal narrowing. There appears to be a D1 ulcer, with the outer duodenal margins appearing frayed. Mild stranding/edema presents in the periduodenal fat with two nodes noted in this fat.

The gall bladder is noted to have multiple calcific gallstones with a normal gall bladder wall and no dilation of bile ducts.

Case Discussion

Radiological findings of duodenitis include thickened folds, nodules, nodular folds as well as erosions. Nodules are the second most common radiologic finding in duodenitis mostly seen in the proximal duodenum represented as an enlarged Brunner's gland. Radiological findings of duodenitis are similar to that of gastritis.
