Presentation
Large soft tissue bulge in left upper eyelid, left eye proptosis and hypoglobus.
Patient Data
There is a large solid mass lesion within the left lacrimal gland palpebral and orbital segment and the upper eyelid totally encasing the left eye uveo-scleral layer. The mass also extends interposed between the lateral orbital wall and lateral rectus muscle and within superior rectus muscle and lateral rectus muscle, causing a pronounced proptosis and hypoglobus. Extension of the mass within the upper medial canthus is also noted. No obvious evidence of bone erosion is seen.
Case Discussion
The case illustrates the non-contrast MDCT features of pathology proved adenoid cystic carcinoma of the lacrimal gland. This malignant neoplasm has a relatively high recurrence rate and the main treatment is surgical excision.
