Benign miliary osteoma cutis

Presentation

The patient was assaulted with a blunt object. Incidental finding.

Patient Data

Age: 50 years
Gender: Male

There is frontal soft tissue swelling with a small subgaleal haematoma corresponding to the site of impact. The cranium is intact throughout. There are no post traumatic intracranial abnormalities.

There are incidental, punctate, cutaneous, calcific nodules within the frontal scalp and especially the malar soft tissues bilaterally.

Case Discussion

CT brain confirmed superficial injuries relating to the site of impact and assault.

The dermal calcific nodules represent a manifestation of primary benign miliary osteoma cutis.

Osteoma cutis (cutaneous ossification) may be primary or secondary 1.
