Presentation
Left hip pain and limited range of movement 1 week ago. No history of trauma.
Patient Data
Plain X-ray study shows calcific bodies related to the left acetabulum and anterior inferior iliac spine.
Thickened proximal tendon of the left rectus femoris muscle with intrasubstance signal alteration and surrounding oedema. These changes are mainly involving the direct head tendon and to a lesser degree the indirect head and proximal conjoined tendons (better seen on the sagittal plane). In addition, a calcific body (1.5x2cm) is seen closely related to the tendon.
Case Discussion
Here is a case with plain X-ray and MR findings suggestive of calcific tendinitis of the rectus femoris muscle.
