MR reveals a globular hypointense lesion in the supraspinatus at its insertion - consistent with calcific tendinopathy of supraspinatus.
Case Discussion
Calcific tendinitis of the rotator cuff is a self-limiting pathology affecting the rotator cuff muscles, with the supraspinatus tendon is by far the most common. T2 signal loss focally within the rotator cuff tendon should raise the possibility of intratendinous calcification.
