Presentation

Left flank pain. Incidental finding.

Patient Data

Age: 55 years
Gender: Male

A left renal stone is noted (cause of patient's flank pain) and confirmed by ultrasound exam (not shown).

Bilateral and symmetrical tubular calcifications in keeping with calcified seminal vesicles and vas deferens.

A cassette artefact is noted.

Case Discussion

The differential diagnoses of seminal vesicles and vas deferens calcifications include:

  • metabolic diseases: diabetes mellitus, hyperparathyroidism

  • infectious: chronic UTI, tuberculosis, schistosomiasis

  • idiopathic
