Cerebral metastases from melanoma

Presentation

Seizure. Past history of melanoma of the thigh

Patient Data

Age: 60
Gender: Female
Modality: MRI

This MRI brain demonstrates a heterogenous lesion in the left frontal lobe. It enhances peripherally with contrast. There is also significant vasogenic oedema around the lesion causing localized mass effect and midline shift.

Case Discussion

Patient underwent craniotomy and excision of left frontal lobe lesion. Histology proven to be melanoma. This MRI demonstrates typical radiographic features of a melanoma which are T2 hypointense and peripheral enhancement with contrast.
