Fall onto an outstretched hand.

Patient Data

Age: 60 years
Gender: Female

Left wrist

x-ray

Extra-articular transverse fracture through the distal left radial metaphyseal region with dorsal angulation of the distal fracture component and radial shortening, in keeping with a Colles fracture.

A displaced small bone fragment related to ulnar styloid process, suspicious of fracture of ulnar styloid process.

Case Discussion

Appearances of Colles fracture of the left distal radius associated with ulnar styloid fracture. It is the most common distal radial fracture in adults and seen more frequently with advancing age and in women with osteoporosis.
