The de Carvalho index is defined as the length from the anterior margin of the tibial plateau to the inferior margin of the patellar articular surface divided by the length of the patellar articular surface.

Case Discussion

The de Carvalho index is a radiographic measurement of patellar position on a lateral radiograph or sagittal MRI and is used in the assessment of patella alta and patella baja.
