Patient Data

Age: 35 years
Gender: Male

Depressed right frontal fracture involving the anterior wall of the frontal sinus and the orbital roof with a small bony fragment in the superior extraconal space as well as orbital emphysema. A small fracture line of the posterior wall of the frontal sinus is also noted with no pneumocephalus.

No associated cerebral contusion, subdural or extra-dural hematoma is seen on the parenchymal window (not shown).

Case Discussion

Depressed skull fracture is usually the result of a high energy impact to the skull, mostly (~75%) occurring in the frontoparietal region.
