Patient Data

Age: 20 years
Gender: Male

Cortical based lesion in right frontal lobe, measuring approximately 31 x 34 x 32 mm (AP x TD x CC). The lesion is extending up to the anterior body of the right lateral ventricle and causes minimal mass effect. It is causing smooth scalloping of the inner table of adjacent right frontal bone. It appears heterogeneously hyperintense on T2W images with partial suppression on FLAIR and hypointense on T1W images. It shows bloomed foci on SWI that may reflect calcifications. No evidence of surrounding edema seen.

Case Discussion

A typical bubbly cortical based lesion, characteristic of a dysembryoplastic neuroepithelial tumor (DNET).  FLAIR features of the lesion are characteristic, showing mixed signal intensity with bright rim sign and partial suppression of some of the "bubbles".
