Presentation
Walking difficulty, ?motor developmental delay.
Patient Data
Dystopic, dysplastic os odontoideum is seen which is displaced anteriorly, lying between anterior arch of atlas and body of C2. This is resulting in atlantoaxial subluxation. In addition, there is abnormal position of C1 and C2, causing moderate to severe compression of cervicomedullary junction.
Intramedullary hyperintensity is seen at C1, C2 level with thinning of cervicomedullary junction and superior cervical cord.
C6 vertebral body appears dysplastic with deficient anterior aspect and central beaking.
Complimentary radiograph showing the same findings as the MRI.
Case Discussion
Findings are suggestive of dystopic os odontoideum with compressive myelopathy.
