Saline infusion sonography showing posterior wall uterine polyp, protruding into the cavity
Case Discussion
Sonohysterography also referred as saline-infusion sonography (SIS), is a technique that is performed to better characterise the uterine cavity and endometrium. It is particularly useful for evaluation of endometrial polyps.
In this case 5ml of warm sterile saline injected slowly into the endometrial cavity with transvaginal scanning of the uterus.Oval-shaped homogeneously echogenic lesion with feeding vessel is noted.
This suggests endometrial polyp.
