Recurrent focal infection involving external ear - posterior surface. Surgically drained once. USG to check for cartilage involvement.

Normal cartilage is represented by a hypoechoic line.
A hypoechoic area is noted involving skin - subcut plane.
A tract is noted extending from the lesion and abutting cartilage.
However, no abnormality is noted in cartilage at this point.
Case Discussion
Surgery - excision of lesion done. The cartilage was normal.
Histo-pathology of excised lesion - changes of chronic inflammation.
