Bilateral femoral shaft fractures:
- comminuted meta-diaphyseal fracture of the distal right femur (AO classification 33A3.3)
- middle third transverse fracture of the left femur (AO classification 32A3)
Case Discussion
Bilateral femoral fractures are associated with an important risk of complications, including death.
These fractures are related to extremely high-energy trauma and are often present with other associated injuries, especially abdominal injuries and hemorrhagic shock.
These fractures can be quite distracting, but such patients demand a thorough physical examination to avoid missing other life-threatening injuries.
