Presentation

Fall on an outstreched hand.

Patient Data

Age: 30 years
Gender: Male

Comminuted distal radial fracture with dorsal angulation and extension into the radiocarpal and distal radioulnar joints. No ulnar fracture.

Casted comminuted distal radial fracture without residual dorsal angulation with extension into the radiocarpal and distal radioulnar joints. No ulnar fracture.

Case Discussion

The Frykman system is often used to classify distal radial fractures. Our patient has a type VII injury: a transverse fracture of the distal radius with extension into both the radiocarpal and distal radioulnar joints without an ulnar styloid fracture.
