Presentation
The patient presented with mass feeling in the right breast.
Patient Data
Evidence of an ill defined speculated lesion seen in the upper part of the right breast, seen on MLO projection only. No skin thickening or nipple retraction.
The lesion appeared as a speculated lesion with internal vascularity and marked acoustic shadowing. It appears completely solid on elastography. No architectural distortion.
The lesion appears speculated and located in the upper inner quadrant of the right breast. No skin thickening or retraction.
The lesion was biopsied and this is the histopathology report, confirming the diagnosis of granular cell tumour of the breast.
Case Discussion
The granular cell tumour of the breast is an uncommon, usually benign tumour which is possibly of neural origin.
On mammography, these tumours can present as an ill-defined or speculated lesions, similar to breast carcinoma.
On ultrasound, this tumour mostly appears as a solid, hypoechoic, ill-defined mass, associated with a posterior shadowing, or as a well-circumscribed oval mass, associated with a posterior enhancement, depending on the extent of infiltration and degree of reactive fibrosis.
