Presentation

Sudden onset of right iliac fossa pain.

Patient Data

Age: 20 years
Gender: Female
ultrasound

Well defined right adnexal mass with reticular lace like internal echoes, posterior acoustic enhancement and circumferential vascularity on color studies.

Normal uterus and ovaries.

Case Discussion

Hemorrhagic ovarian cysts occur as a result of internal hemorrhage into a functional cyst. They are the most common cause of acute onset of pelvic pain in pre-menopausal women.
