Hepatic and peritoneal hydatidosis

Abdominal pain and progressive distention.

Patient Data

Age: 65 years
Gender: Female

Multiple hepatic and abdominopelvic thick walled multiseptated cystic lesions are seen with maximum diameters of 145×115mm. Some of them show focal linear calcifications on margin or septations.

Case Discussion

Features on CT scan are compatible with hepatic & peritoneal hydatidosis.
Peritoneal hydatidosis occurs secondary to seeding of echinococcosis to the peritoneum, usually secondary to rupture of hydatid disease of liver.
