Hydrocele of the canal of Nuck

Presentation

Pain and swelling of right inguinal canal with extension to labia majora.

Patient Data

Age: 35 years
Gender: Female
MRI

There is a thin-walled cystic mass with low intensity on the T1-weighted images and high intensity on T2-weighted images and thin wall enhancement in the right inguinal region. Sonographic examination revealed an avascular cystic mass with smooth and thin wall and septa with no peristalsis.

Case Discussion

The canal of Nuck is homologous of the processus vaginalis, and incomplete obliteration of the processus vaginalis causes hydrocele of the canal of Nuck.
