Presentation
Severe headache, nausea and dizziness.
Patient Data
There is a thickening of the inner table of the skull, with prominent bone lobulations in the frontal regions appearing in the scout view and CT images, typical of hyperostosis frontalis interna (HFI).
Case Discussion
This is an incidental finding or anatomical variant, mostly not an explanation of the patient's headache.
The aetiology of hyperostosis frontalis interna (HFI) is unknown. Hyperostosis frontalis interna (HFI) should be recognised as a benign entity and should be distinguished from other disorders that affect the frontal skull bone such as Paget's disease, or malignancy.
