Ultrasound images (both in longitudinal and transverse planes) show gastric dilatation, with increased pyloric canal measurements, which measure 20 mm in length and 5 mm in muscular wall thickness (not seen in these images).
Case Discussion
Hypertrophic pyloric stenosis (HPS) refers to the idiopathic thickening of gastric pyloric musculature which then results in gastric outlet obstruction.
The Pyloric stenosis is relatively common, with an incidence of approximately 2-5 per 1000 births, and a male predilection (M:F ~4:1).
