Case Discussion

MRI features most consistent with an infantile hemangioma of the scalp.

Infantile hemangiomas are benign vascular tumors, most commonly found in the head and neck regions. Usually small or absent at birth and progressively increasing in size during the first year of life followed by a stationary period, then progressive involution during early childhood. Up to 50% involute by 5 years and 70% by the age of 7 years.
