Presentation

Choking event one year ago, since then chronic productive cough

Patient Data

Age: 2 years
Gender: Male
x-ray

Small radio-opaque foreign body is seen projecting at the lower left lobar bronchus.

Left lower lobe bronchectasis overshadowed by the cardiac opacity.

Paradoxically, the left lung seems smaller but hyperlucent.

CT confirms the foreign body and it's location. It's causing an overshoot artifact thus of a metallic nature.

Bronchiectasis and pneumonic changes at the lower left lower lobe are noted.

The left lung is clearly more lucent

Case Discussion

Endoscopic extraction was successful. The object turned to be a small led lamp from the older's brother toy.

The clinical course was favorable.
