Presentation

Left corneal mass since birth.

Patient Data

Age: 6 months
Gender: Female
mri

A relatively well circumscribed conjunctival lesion noted at the lateral aspect of left orbit, where it extends to the temporal aspect of limbus. This lesion shows hyperintense on both T1W and T2W, where the signal intensity is suppressed on fat saturation sequence. The signal saturation suggests fat component.

Another lesion with similar characteristic seen at the lateral aspect of right orbit. No extension of these lesions into the eye orbit. No restricted diffusion.

Case Discussion

Patient is diagnosed to have bilateral corneal limbal dermoids. Patient has preauricular appendage. Clinically and radiologically suggestive of Goldenhar syndrome.

Corneal limbal dermoid is a congenital, benign choristoma composed of tissues of ectodermal and mesodermal origin1.

Goldenhar syndrome comprises various anomalies such as periauricular appendages, limbal dermoid and auricular malformations.

Epibulbar dermoid is found in 30–60% cases with ocular manifestation of Goldenhar syndrome.  They are bilateral in approximately 25% cases2.
